Iconic Chairs

Lounge Chair and Ottoman

Perhaps any design produced by this team can rightfully be in the same league as the greatest designers in America, if not the world. However, the ultimate Eames classic is the Lounge Chair and Ottoman, which boasts the use of technology and materials that were considered advanced at the time. Apart from incorporating aesthetics and comfort, the Eameses made sure that one person using a screwdriver could assemble the chair.

Eames Lounge Chair Wood (LCW) also,Low Chair Wood

The LCW is considered the 20th-century design breakthrough of this husband-and-wife team. The lounge chair is made of five parts cut from a single sheet of plywood, which are them moulded and bent. The Eames used the technology for moulding plywood for the design of the chair, which Charles started developing in the early 1940’s. The high demand for this design only proves that it is timeless.

Egg Chair

Embodying the qualities of Danish Modern or Organic Modern design, the Egg Chair may be the strongest contender of the Eames Lounge Chair for most sought-after design classic. It may appear complicated, but it’s surprisingly reassuring given Jacobsen’s eye for the organic and functional. The Egg chair has the distinction of being one of the most influential post-war furniture designs that Jaconbsen was commissioned to design for the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen.

Butterfly Stool

Admirers of organic design will find the Butterfly Stool exceptional. In fact, it is now an icon of modern industrialized Japan. What makes it remarkable is its simple and graceful form, often perceived as a butterfly or a pair of hands in the act of offering something. The honestly of the chair’s structure (every part of the stool is exposed to scrutiny) was made possible by technology. Furthermore, this piece of furniture can also be easily assembled.

Butterfly Stool

The Tulip Chair is one of Searinen’s greatest creations and a classic of industrial design. It was the result of Saarinen’s preoccupation with the underside of typical chairs and tables, which he found very confusing. The chair, with its pedestal base, produced a purer form. Although it was one of the mid-century designs that used fiberglass-reinforced resin, its innovative form makes it a standout until now.

The Chair

Post- WWII Scandinavian designers did not stray far from tradition. Take Wegner, whose experience as a cabinetmaker was put to good use in his mind-century designs. The Chair is a blend of the traditional and the new. It was handmade, which contradicted with the modernist tenets of mass production for the needs of Modernist spaces. Furthermore, the proportions were based on the human form.

Marshmallow Sofa

With its playful and colorful round cushions “floating”on a tubular steel frame, the Marshmallow Sofa never fails to capture peoples’ attention. But make no mistake, the chair is not merely whimsical-it is also very practical. The cushion can all have the same color or can come in multiple color combinations; they can also be detached to create a different look.

Marshmallow Sofa

Bertoia is know for his wire mesh chairs. The Diamond Chair exploits the inherent qualities of metal, resulting in a beautifully sculpted piece. It is airy and light and does not interfere with space but rather becomes part of it. The authentic Diamond chair is exceptional in form and proportion, which a lot of knock-offs do not achieve. This is probably why even design students can spot a fake.

Chair 3107

The chair 3107 is said to be the most copied chair in the world-made popular by the famous 1960’s nude portrait of the notorious Christine Keeler and the Profumo scandal (her chair was actually a knock-off). The fascination for this design is not difficult to explain. First, the chair can be used in all kinds of interiors, and because it is light and stackable, storing it is not a problem. The design did not sacrifice aesthetics as seen its graceful, organic form.

Womb Chair

This chair was designed to conform to any relaxed position of the sitter, like drawing up his or her legs, which would be impossible in other chairs. For those who love to snooze, this is your chairs! The Womb chair has remained popular because, while it was conceived for casual and comfortable lifestyle, it is chic enough to go well with other contemporary interior styles.

The Wedding Deccor

At this table, you are a guest at an elegant yet understated wedding celebration that takes place in a prestigious seaside resort community in the late spring.

The couple wanted to incorporate various elements of the wedding celebration into every table's decor, so that their guests truly feel involved in and surrounded by the ambiance of this special day.

This table is the "marriage" of the elegant elements of their wedding…

The sheer, delicate chair covers are reminiscent of the bride's veil.

The table linens, in soft tones and luxurious fabrics, are bustled like the train of the bride's couture gown.

At each setting, clear chargers frame flower petals, giving you the feeling that the flower girl whimsically scattered them on your table before you were seated.

The napkins, folded as envelopes, contain the menu cards -"invitations" for the guests to partake in tonight's fabulous dinner.

The place cards represent the wedding rings… printed and folded in circles that illustrate that the couple's love is eternal, with no beginning and no end.

The hydrangeas located between each setting coordinate with the bouquets carried by the bridesmaids. The fresh blooms in soft colors capture the essence of this seaside community. Simplicity at its finest.

The favors are monogrammed cookies, trimmed in "pearls", invoking the classic strand of pearls worn by the bride. The pearl theme also carries over onto some of the votives that surround the centerpiece.

The tiered centerpiece of flowers was patterned after the couple's wedding cake, once again making the guests feel that the elegant elements of this event surround them at their table.

Table Design

Each of us should learn proper table etiquette. It will earn us respect from other as well as make good impression. Practicing good dining etiquette is a must especially in the business world where we often attend social function with clients or have business lunch with employers or associates.
WATCH YOUR TABLE MANNERS
*Do not push your plate away from you when you have finished eating.Leave at its place.
* Do not walk when your mouth is full.
* Do not drink liquor or smoke on your seat.
* When you are an invited guest on a business lunch, wait for the host to make her order before making your own.And please,do not order the most expensive food on the menu.
* As much as possible, order food that can be eaten with a knife or fork. Avoid messy food because this might stain your clothes.
Be Familiar with Settings
When you are invited to a formal dinner, you will immediately notice a concoction of silverwares and glasses around your plate. Don't be overwhelmed if this is your first time.Take a deep breath and draw an imaginary line that cuts in the very center of your plate.
*LIQUIDS ON YOUR RIGHT.
ON the right of thus imaginary center line are glassware, cup and saucer, knives, and spoons.
*SOLIDS ON YOUR LEFT.
On the left imaginary center line are bread and butter plate(including small butter knife placed horizontally across the top of the plate), salad plate, napkin, and fork.
Use of Silverware
Take a quick glance at the silverwares placed around your plate, You will notice that the dinner spoon and fork are placed nearest your plate. This means that you will have to work your way from the outside in using one piece of silverware for each course.
* Your salad fork in on your outermost left.
* Dinner fork is placed nearer to your plate, right next to the salad fork.
* Your soup spoon is on your outermost right.
* The beverage spoon follows the soup spoon.
* Then comes the salad knife and dinner knife.
* The dessert spoon and fork are above your plate or brought out with dessert.
As mentioned earlier, always use the fart nest utensils first and work your way from the outside in.
Napkin
Before settling down on the dinner table, you will notice a neatly folded napkin on your seat. This piece of clothing is not placed there for decoration. It has a particular purpose to wipe out food stains in your mouth..
* If it is a small luncheon napkin, you can completely unfold it on your lap.
* If it is a large dinner napkin, unfold it lengthwise in half before placing it on your lap.
* If you have to leave your seat for a moment, a napkin placed on the chair will signify to the waiter that you have not yet finished your meal and that you will be returning.
* A napkin placed on the table means you have finished your meal.
